A few months back, I bought an android phone. I found android was way  better than iOS, except for one little issue, which I was fortunate  enough to get around. I have always been sharing my internet connection  with my phone, be it an iPhone, iPad or any other device. They all  worked pretty well with my windows Ad-hoc connection sharing. Except for  this phone which is really a major disadvantage.<br />

A lot of people use connectify to get around this on windows 7. For me,  as it has always been, I wanted something simple and fast. I did some  search, and found out an easy way of making a virtual router. This  involved using command line to give commands for enabling virtual wifi,  so it was easy for me to write a batch script which did all the work for  me. Its pretty much same as connectify, but way faster and simpler,  plus instead of using that 'advertising' SSID in connectify, you can  choose your own SSID name with this method. I have divided the setup  into few simple steps, so everyone can understand easily.<br />

While I was trying to make a virtual router on my laptop I could connect  successfully but after a while the phone had problem browsing,  connecting or even discovering the virtual router. I started  troubleshooting, and found out that the problem was not with the virtual  router, but it was in the phone settings. My android phone used network  based location services which, whenever the phone connected, tried  finding the location using the network. It was this service which made  the wifi connection impossible. I disabled this and it started working  as a charm. To disable this service on Nexus S (Ice Cream Sandwich),<br />
go  to <b>Settings->Location Services</b> and disable all services as shown below.</div>

I have written this guide using Windows 7, however similar method can be  used on Windows Vista. To start with settings on your pc, first thing  you have to do is make a batch file. To do this open a new notepad  window and copy the following lines.</div>

Now comes the tricky part. You have to run the above batch file, which  will first create a virtual wireless connection. After it has been  created, you can use it to share your LAN connection to. To do this,  right click  on <span style="background-color: #6aa84f;">TurnWirelessOn.bat </span>file and select run as administrator.</div>

Note down the name of the wireless connection which uses Microsoft  Virtual Wifi Miniport. In this case it is called Wireless Network  Connection 2.<br />

Once you apply the settings, you might get a notification that the  connection is currently active. This can be fixed by  TurnWirelessOff.bat. Opening this file as administrator will turn the  connection off, enabling you to set the sharing options.</div>

If You Can’t Boot</h3>
If safe mode doesn’t help fix your device, you can perform a hard  reset by booting into a special recovery mode. First, ensure your device  is fully shut down.<br />
Press and hold the correct keys to boot the device into recovery  mode. This will vary from device to device. Here are some examples:<br />

<li>Nexus 7: Volume Up + Volume Down + Power</li>
<li>Samsung Galaxy S3: Volume Up + Home + Power</li>
<li>Motorola Droid X: Home + Power</li>

Similar devices will likely use similar key combinations. For example, the Nexus 4 also uses Volume Up + Volume Down + Power.<br />
If your device isn’t on this list and none of the above methods work,  do a Google search for the name of your device and “recovery mode” – or  look in the device’s manual or support pages.<br />
Release the buttons when the device powered on. You’ll see an image  of an Android lying on its back with its chest open and its internals  revealed.<br />

Ever wanted to share the apps installed on your Android Mobile Phone  with Friends? Android 2.2+ (not sure about the older versions) include <b>App Sharing</b> feature by default.<br />
App Sharing feature lets you share the apps installed on your android  phone with others. App sharing is great way to get your friends with  new android smartphones started. This can even be used to share an  interesting app you just downloaded on your phone with your friends.<br />
What gets shared is the Android Market Link of the App. Using which  the other person can download the particular app to his phone. There’s  even a way to share the Installed App’s Apk file – i.e. the complete app  package and not only the link – check the other apps section below for  more details.<br />
<b>The Default App Sharing Android app works pretty easy. Here’s some steps on how to use it -</b><br />
<ol>
<li>Launch “App Sharing” app from the menu.</li>
<li>You will see all installed apps listed</li>
<li>Click on the one you want to share</li>
<li>You will now get “Share via” options, which include Bluetooth, Mail,  Messages and other option for the installed apps which allows sharing,  such as Dropbox, Evernote, Facebook, Gmail, etc.</li>
<li>From the “Share via” menu, select the medium you would like to use to share the app.</li>
<li>And you are done! The Android Market link to the app will now get transferred to the other person.</li>

The most preferable option would be to use Bluetooth or QR Code. I would prefer QR Code the most if the other person has <a href="http://smartlog3g.blogspot.com/2013/04/best-qr-bar-code-reader-scanner-apps.html" target="_blank">QR reader</a> installed on his phone, as its the easiest and quickest among all.<br />
Note: If you wont see ‘Share via barcode’ option in the ‘Share via’ menu try installing <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.zxing.client.android" target="_blank">Zxing Barcode Scanner</a>.<br />
This was the default app which comes pre-installed with all new  android phones. There are some other apps in the Android Market which  offers similar functionality with some more advance feature.<br />
